Maccabi Tel Aviv returned to Israel after the defeat in the “home” game in Serbia and she knew that there was no time to lick the wounds in the championship fight. The Yellows returned to Bloomfield with renewed strength, and tonight (Sunday) immediately returned to the winning side with 1:3 against Hapoel Haifa in the last game of the regular season.
The game started at a very high pace on both sides, when already in the 13th minute Tomer Yosef converted a penalty into a surprising advantage for the guest. From that moment Hapoel Haifa disappeared until the halftime break, Eran Zahavi equalized in the 28th minute from his own penalty and three minutes into the added time of the first half he also completed a double from a great cook by Dor Peretz.
In the second half, Roni Levy’s team showed improvement and even tied the score, but Bar Lin’s goal was disallowed due to an early foul by Oren Biton. In the end it was Dor Peretz who scored the third in the 85th minute and closed the story with 1:3 for the yellows.
Both teams have now gone on a team break, after which they will return to start the top playoffs. Maccabi Tel Aviv will open its games in the playoffs against Bnei Sakhnin, Hapoel Haifa will meet Hapoel Beer Sheva.
