Are Anitta and Peso Pluma an item? The Brazilian superstar addressed speculation that she and the “Nueva Vida” singer are dating in her cover story with TODAY.com.

When asked about their relationship, Anitta didn’t confirm or deny the rumors.

“I really like him. I think he’s such a great person — great artist, very humble. He reminds me a lot of myself when I was his age; he’s 24, I’m 31,” she said.

Anitta also touched on why she isn’t a rush to define this relationship — or any relationship, for that matter.

“I just want to be happy, free, have a good time, be easy,” she said. “Right now I’m not in the moment for anything serious. For many years, I was feeling like, ‘Oh, I need to be in a relationship.’ But nowadays, I understand that I don’t. Everyone has this necessity of putting a name on things, a title on things, but I’m in such a different moment. I just want to enjoy life and have a good time, to be free without having people to give explanations to. I am not trying to tell people, ‘I am this, or I am that.’ I don’t do that with my music. Imagine with a person.”

Anitta, who identifies as bisexual, explained that women often feel pressured to have a partner by their side, and she said it only gets worse once you’re in the spotlight.

“There’s a lot of expectations, like we need to seduce men, we need to make a man want to be our boyfriend, or husband, or whatever. For many years, I was falling for these expectations, and trying to please the desire of the industry to see me with a man,” she said. “Now I’m like, I just want to be happy. And if I’m happy and someone crosses my way and is worth my time, cool. If not … whatever!”

In 2023, rumors started to swirl that Anitta and Peso Pluma were dating when they released their song “Bellakeo” in December of that year.

An ode to sexual chemistry, they performed the song together live for the first time at the TikTok music festival in December. Anitta danced seductively on Peso Pluma at the event. The artists also shared a kiss on stage for Anitta’s birthday in April.

When asked how she came to work with Peso Pluma on “Bellakeo,” Anitta said Peso Pluma opted to do the bop after his team heard the track.

“Listen, this song, I got it as a birthday present from a producer friend of mine,” she told TODAY.com. “We were listening to the song on my birthday, it was so much fun. But then I forgot about the track. And then months later, Peso Pluma’s team reached out and said, ‘We heard this song, and we want to do it with you.’ At first, I said no, because I was super focused on my funk project (album “Funk Generation”). But they kept pressing, and I said, ‘You know what, let’s do it.’ And it’s been amazing. I’m so happy when that song comes on.”
