Austria pulls off a surprise, defeats the Netherlands, and tops its group in Euro 2024 | sports

The Austrian national team caused a huge surprise and inflicted a harsh defeat on its Dutch counterpart 3-2 today, Tuesday, in the third and final round of the fourth group matches of the European Nations Cup (Euro 2024) in Germany.

The Austrian national team deservedly qualified for the round of 16 of the continental championship and even topped the fourth group, ahead of the two poles, the Netherlands and France.

Austria topped the group with 6 points from two victories and a defeat, while France had 5 points in second place from one victory and two draws.

The Netherlands came in third place with 4 points from a win, a defeat and a draw, but it advanced to the round of 16 among the top 4 teams that finished third, while Poland finished at the bottom of the group with one point.

The first half ended with the Austrian national team leading with an own goal scored by Borussia Dortmund striker Donyael Malen by mistake in the seventh minute.

The second half was exciting and witnessed 4 goals, two for each team, but the victory in the end went to the Austrian team, which also had a goal disallowed.
