Olympic medalist Avishag Samberg qualified today (Saturday) for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. The taekwondo fighter obtained the ticket at the European qualifying competition held in Sofia, after qualifying for the finals at 49 kg.
Samberg, who won the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, will try to do it again after punching the ticket and securing a second consecutive participation in the world’s biggest sporting event which will be held again this summer.
Samberg opened the day of fights in the qualifying competition against Oldzislava Sarokina, whom she beat 1:2, in the quarter she beat the Belarusian Alexandra Georgieva 0:2, in the semi-finals she beat the Bosnian Djelia Makash 0:2, advanced to the final and secured her participation in the Paris Olympics.
Thanks to the ticket won by Samberg, the Israeli delegation to the Paris Olympics has grown to 53 sportsmen and women. According to estimates, there will be about 90 Israeli athletes in France this summer.
