Cairo – (Masrawy):

McLaren, a leading British manufacturer and developer of super sports cars, announced that Bahrain Mumtalakat Company has acquired 100% of the company’s shares.

Mumtalakat Bahrain, affiliated with the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain, previously owned 60% of McLaren shares, before the details of the full acquisition of the company were announced.

McLaren Group CEO, Paul Walsh, said that this important step will help the company move forward to implement its long-term business plan, and explore investment with new partners within the automotive sector.

Experts believe that Bahrain Mumtalakat’s acquisition of McLaren will contribute to the British company’s ability to develop the next generation of its cars, which includes an SUV and an electric supercar that will be launched in 2028.

It is noteworthy that McLaren was founded in a partnership between Bruce McLaren and Ron Dennis, and began its operations in 1989 from within the United Kingdom to all parts of the world, and is famous for its models inspired by Formula 1 cars but intended for regular roads.

Over the course of more than 35 years, McLaren has been able to produce dozens of supercars that roam the world, whether with its own production, or in cooperation with other partners, perhaps the most prominent of which are the American Ford and the German Mercedes-Benz.
