Egyptian journalist Bassem Youssef launched a violent attack on British journalist Piers Morgan, despite the latter’s declaration of solidarity with the Palestinian people after the Israeli occupation army’s bombing of the Palestinian Rafah camps, which resulted in the killing of large numbers of Palestinians.
Bassem Youssef said while attending a symposium on the sidelines of the “Arab Media Forum”: “I don’t know why people care that Piers Morgan changes his mind. He is a man who seeks to create a trend and increase views. He hosts people and sits with them in order to increase the number of views, and his opinion is not important at all.” Because he only cares about the trend and what he will talk about, so it does not matter that he changed his mind.” He added: “Pierce is a man who has a media platform on which we appear in order to convey our idea to his viewers and nothing more. As for our interest in changing his opinion, this is only from our emotional side.”
Bassem Youssef had engaged in a media debate with Piers Morgan at the beginning of the Gaza events, during which he launched a sarcastic attack on the Western media, which supported the Zionist occupation by fabricating untrue lies about what was happening in the Gaza Strip at the time.
