PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A large brush fire caused traffic closures in south Phoenix early Monday morning as firefighters battled the blaze.
The fire started overnight near the Salt River bed at Broadway Road between 41st and 43rd avenues. It was brought under control around 5:10 a.m.
No structures were involved, Phoenix fire officials said. Firefighters will remain on scene into the morning to ensure there are no remaining hotspots.
Officials closed Broadway Road in the area during the early morning hours to assist with firefighting efforts.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
