Cate Blanchett from the session “Displacement: Cinematic Perspectives”: The displaced people’s stories are inspiring

The International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA) organized a panel discussion entitled “Displacement…Cinematic Perspectives”, in cooperation with the Arab Cinema Center and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, as part of the activities of the 77th session of Cannes International Film Festival.

The session addressed the topic of displacement and highlighted the power of cinema in portraying and addressing the challenges of displaced people and refugees. The international star participated in the discussion session. Cate BlanchettDirector Daniela Ribas, Afghan photographer Barat Ali Bator, journalist Raya Abi Rashid, and the session was moderated by American journalist Hadley Gamble.

The star said Cate Blanchett “Displaced people have a voice, they have a story, and their stories are amazing and very inspiring. I am always confused as to why more films do not address this issue directly or indirectly.”

In addition to the panel discussion, the International Association of Emerging Film Talents, in cooperation with the Arab Cinema Center, participated in organizing the annual Critics Awards Ceremony for Arab Films.
