Dani Alves, Barcelona’s great right back, went to prison last February after the Spanish court convicted him of sexual assault. Alves was sentenced to 4.5 years, lost his status as a Barcelona “legend” and had to deal with rumors of his suicide.
Now Alves’ entourage has officially denied them, after contacting Alves’ lawyer, according to a report by senior journalist Marcelo Belcher of Spain’s TNT Sport. This disproved the wave of rumors about the condition of the 40-year-old Alves.
Recently there were several reports that Alves was depressed in prison and under observation for fear of suicide, but now it has been officially confirmed that he is still alive. Alves sexually assaulted a 23-year-old young woman in a nightclub in Barcelona, and has already served more than a year of his sentence.
Daniel Alves’ press office, after contacting the former player’s lawyer, denies the rumor circulated this evening.
