Esperance defeats Africa and strengthens its lead in the Tunisian League

Esperance Club of Tunisia defeated its host Club Africain by two goals to one, in a match held between them, today, Sunday, in the eighth round of the coronation stage of the Tunisian Football League.

According to the Tunisian newspaper “Al-Shorouk”, the match was stopped in the 58th minute after violence occurred among the fans, after which security personnel intervened to prevent matters from getting worse, while tear gas was used to disperse the crowds.

The match between the two teams in the first round also witnessed a departure from the script by the fans.

Esperance played its first match since losing to Al-Ahly with an unanswered goal in the 2023-2024 CAF Champions League final.

The Brazilian duo, Yann Sass and Rodrigo Rodriguez, scored the goals for Esperance in the third and 26th minutes, and Kingsley Edu responded with the only goal for the African in stoppage time of the match.

Esperance raised its score to 20 points in the lead, while Africa’s score stopped at seven points in last place.
