Social media has changed the way people receive and consume information, to the point that influencers on these platforms have become one of the most important sources of information for adults in American society.
YouGov conducted a survey YouGovBritish market research and data analysis company, BP, conducted a survey of US adults to find out how they view social media celebrities and whether they consider them a reliable source of information about consumer products and lifestyle.
The survey results showed that 62% of adults in America consider the information provided by social media influencers on food to be useful, compared to 60% for home repairs and interior design.

53% of those surveyed find social media influencers helpful when it comes to automotive information, with Gen Z the most trustworthy at 47%, followed by Millennials at 39%, and Gen X and Boomers at 30% each.
The main question of the survey was, “Do you think social media influencers are a useful source of information on the following topics?”
