Today, Tuesday, the Giza Misdemeanor Court began hearing the second session of the trial of director Omar Zahran, in the case of his accusation of stealing the jewelry of visual artist Shalimar Sharbatly, the wife of director Khaled Youssef.

Ahmed Mortada Mansour said that he will ask for a deadline to review the case papers, confirming that he attended on behalf of his father, Counselor Mortada Mansour, who will take over the case in the next session.

Director Omar Zahran arrived at the headquarters of the Giza Misdemeanor Court, today, Tuesday, under heavy security guard, to hold the second session of his trial in the incident of the theft of the apartment of the visual artist Shalimar Sharbatly, the wife of his friend, the director Khaled Youssef.

The director appeared in the courtroom wearing a black T-shirt and black glasses, and the forces took him to his prison cell.

The court interrogated director Omar Zahran about the accusations against him during the first session of his trial, where he confirmed that his friend’s wife accused him of stealing possessions amounting to 250 million pounds from her apartment, and she confirmed in her report that he had recovered 200 million of the value of the stolen items, noting that the dispute was about returning the rest. He added: “If I took 200 million, I would return it to him.”

Actress Hala Sedqy and journalist Basma Wahba came to the headquarters of the Giza Misdemeanor Court and confirmed that they had known the director for a long time, denying his connection to the incident of the theft of the artist Shalimar Sharbatly.

During the last hearing, the director’s defense requested his client’s release pending investigation, and the case was postponed until the papers were reviewed due to the accused being referred to trial in a short time. However, the court decided to detain him until his second trial session.

In case No. 7439 of 2023, director Omar Zahran and “Antar” were referred to the urgent misdemeanor court, on the grounds that he was accused of stealing gold jewelry and collectibles from the apartment of the visual artist Shalimar Sharbatly, worth 250 million pounds.
