Injury keeps Imam Ashour out of Egypt national team camp

The Egyptian Football Association announced in an official statement, this Thursday morning, the exclusion of player Imam Ashour from the Egyptian national team camp due to injury.

Egypt have two matches on their FIFA calendar this month, hosting Cape Verde on Friday evening in the first round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers before travelling to face Botswana in the second round on September 10.

Imam Ashour excluded

The Egyptian Football Association statement revealed that Imam Ashour complained of knee pain at the beginning of the group training session.

He explained that the technical staff, led by Hossam Hassan, preferred, after coordination with the medical staff, led by Mohamed Abu Al-Ela, to rest Imam Ashour, while exempting him from the Egyptian national team camp for fear of his injury worsening.

In a separate context, the Egyptian national team training witnessed the participation of 25 players after the arrival of all professionals except Mohamed Abdel Moneim, who apologized for not joining due to his presence with his new club, Nice, France.
