mentioned Israel Broadcasting AuthorityOn Friday, the far-right Israeli Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, approved “the recognition of 8,000 dunams in the Jordan Valley area and considering them as state land.”

Israeli Radio said: “Eight thousand dunums in the Jordan Valley have been recognized as Israeli land and are allocated for the construction of hundreds of housing units in the (Yevit) settlement, in addition to an area designated for industry and trade.”

She noted that this step came after a year’s worth of efforts in the Ministry of Defense, under the leadership of Minister Smotrich.

The Jordan Valley represents 30% of the territory of the West Bank, and it includes half of its arable land. 65,000 citizens and 11,000 settlers live in this area, according to the “Jordan Valley” channel.Palestine“Official.

The radio quoted an informed source as saying that planning residential units in the area that has now been declared state land may take about a year, and that this will require approval from the political level.

On the other hand, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned, in a statement, “Smotrich’s decision to confiscate 8,000 dunams of the Jordan Valley and declare it state land in preparation for allocating it for the purposes of settlement expansion.”

She considered this to be “a crime in the true sense of the word that falls within the framework of an official policy that is racing against time to annex the West Bank and eliminate the opportunity to materialize the Palestinian state.”

The ministry added, “There are no limits to the crimes of the ruling Israeli right, and there are no controls of morals, values, principles, or international resolutions that can curb the extremist right’s exploitation of the people’s cause, exterminating them, and liquidating their rights.”

According to the “Peace Now” movement, this year is a record year for building permits in the West Bank, since Minister Smotrich assumed responsibility for the powers of the civil administration.

Kan noted that about three weeks ago, it was announced that about 2,500 dunams in the Maale Adumim area would be recognized as state land “in response to a shooting attack.”

Smotrich said, “This announcement will allow the construction and strengthening of the Jordan Valley to continue. At a time when there are those in Israel and the world who seek to undermine our right to Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) and the country in general, we are strengthening settlement through hard work – and at the strategic level, in All over the country.”
