The Argentine star failed Lionel Messi In saving his team, Inter Miami, from defeat against its guest, Atlanta United, after losing by three goals to one, on Thursday, at Chase Stadium in the American League.
Although the Argentine international participated in the entire match and scored his team’s only goal, this was not enough to produce a positive result, and the team suffered its fourth loss in 17 matches this season.
On the other hand, Georgian international Saba Lubjanidze grabbed the spotlight, after the 29-year-old played the main role in only Atlanta United’s fourth victory in 15 matches, by scoring two goals in the match.
The Georgian player scored two goals to put his team ahead in the 44th and 59th minutes, before Messi restored hope to the hosts by reducing the difference in the 62nd minute, scoring his eleventh goal in the league, topping the scorers list.
Senegalese Djamel Tiare frustrated Inter Miami by restoring the two-goal lead by scoring the third goal for Atalanta in the 73rd minute.
Despite the loss, Inter Miami is still at the top of the Eastern Conference standings with 34 points, one point ahead of Cincinnati, while Atlanta raised its score to 16 points, moving up to twelfth place.
