Manchester United vs Manchester City 2-1: FA Cup final – as it happened | Football News

  • Goodbye for now

In a match which most people expected to be a foregone conclusion, United showed their mettle by beating favourites City 2-1.

This could very well be a fitting sendoff for ten Hag, who is rumoured to leave the club.

City looked the more threatening side in the manner in which they commanded possession and dominated the United end.

However, United were clinical with the precious few chances they were afforded to finish as victors.

The English season officially comes to a close with City just missing out on becoming the first English side to achieve consecutive doubles.

We hope you enjoyed this thrilling match, and till the next time, this is Rohan Sharma signing off on behalf of Al Jazeera Sport.

Ten Hag, who could be appearing for the final time as United manager, had this to say to BBC Sport: “[My] compliments to the team. They played very good and to our identity.

“You have seen that when we have the players on board, how we can play to our philosophy.

“Some are not fit, expecially not match fit but I think the performance was very good.

“I tell you this all year. When the players are fit, we can play good football.

“You’ve seen a very good performance against the best team in the world, I think.”
