Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, approved the findings of the Supreme Committee for Public Shops Licensing, which stipulates that the new closing times for shops and malls across the country will be during the period from July 1, 2024 to September 26, 2024.

As follows:

First: The daily opening times for shops during the period from the first of July 2024 until the end of the last Thursday of September 2024 will be at seven in the morning, with closing at exactly ten in the evening. The timing will be increased on Thursdays and Fridays and on holidays and official holidays. It closes at eleven in the evening, so the reduction is only one hour compared to the applicable summer hours.

Second: The opening times for commercial malls are daily during the period referred to, starting at ten in the morning and closing at twelve midnight, provided that the timing is increased on Thursdays and Fridays and on holidays and official holidays to close at one in the morning.

Third: The opening times for restaurants, cafes, and bazaars will be daily during the period referred to, starting at six in the morning, and closing at exactly twelve o’clock midnight, with take-out services and home delivery continuing 24 hours a day for restaurants and cafes, provided that The timing will be increased on Thursdays and Fridays, and on holidays and official holidays, to close at one in the morning.

Fourth: The opening hours for workshops and craft shops will be daily during the period referred to as is currently the case during summer time, starting at eight in the morning, provided that they close at exactly seven in the evening, with the exception of workshops located on roads and gas stations that are linked to urgent services. For citizens in order to preserve the provision of important services to them.

Fifth: As an exception to the new closing dates for the aforementioned commercial stores, grocery stores, supermarkets, warehouses, and bakeries are excluded, taking into account the night activities of some stores, such as fruit and vegetable stores, poultry stores, wholesale markets, and pharmacies, taking into account the important services provided to citizens.

In the same context, Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Local Development, indicated that the Supreme Committee for Public Store Licensing will continue its meetings during the coming period to follow up on all developments regarding the implementation of the new dates for stores and commercial malls.

Major General Hesham Amna called on owners of shops, restaurants, workshops, cafes and craft businesses to adhere to the opening and closing times of shops, noting that this decision comes within the framework of implementing the directives of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, to take the necessary measures to rationalize the use of electricity in a way that contributes to reducing the volume of imported petroleum products in light of the high temperatures as well as the unprecedented rise in electricity consumption rates.

The Minister of Local Development, Chairman of the Supreme Committee, indicated that this decision came as an exception for a temporary period to achieve a balance between the supreme interest of the state and the directives of the Prime Minister in this regard and the interest of citizens in practicing their commercial activities. Major General Hisham Amna also directed the executive agencies in the governorates to implement the dates. New orders to close and open stores, restaurants, and commercial malls in coordination with the relevant authorities in the governorates.
