Books – Muhammad Atef:
Reducing electricity loads for about 3 hours in a number of regions across the country topped the list of the most searched on Google with more than 2,000 ongoing searches, during the last hours. At the same time, posts that talk about electricity appeared in the classifications of popular content now on Facebook with more than 800. A thousand people are talking about it, amid questions about how long this new measure from the Ministry of Electricity will last.
An official source at the National Electricity Control Center previously revealed that new instructions had been issued to all nine electricity distribution companies nationwide, including changing the work of the load shedding plan to begin at 3 p.m. and end at 8 p.m., so that 4 periods are distributed in each 3-hour period.
Qalyubia Governorate also announced that the time for reducing electrical loads will be increased, starting today, Tuesday, by 3 hours for those whose electricity is cut off for two hours, while for those whose electricity is cut off for one hour, it will become only two hours.
An informed source at the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company told Masrawy that the past two days have witnessed a significant increase in the consumption of diesel quantities supplied from petroleum to production companies, as the average daily consumption recorded 30 thousand tons of diesel per day and 25 million cubic meters of gas per day.
A statement that settles the controversy
In a joint statement on Tuesday, the Ministries of Electricity and Petroleum announced that the load shedding period “today only” had been increased for an additional hour in order to maintain the operational efficiency of the National Electricity Transmission Grid and the National Natural Gas Grid.
The statement stated, “Due to the coincidence of some preventive maintenance measures in part of the regional gas trading networks with the increase in local electricity consumption rates as a result of rising temperatures, this requires increasing the load shedding period today only for an additional hour.”
Deadline
In this regard, Counselor Mohamed Al-Homsani, the official spokesman for the Council of Ministers, said that Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly directed the Ministries of Electricity and Petroleum to provide resources to complete load reduction by the end of this year.
He stressed, in an intervention with the “On My Responsibility” program on Sada El Balad channel, that reducing loads is a temporary period and the government is committed to implementing the cessation of reducing loads, and this plan is currently being worked on.
