Prof. Shakma Bresler, one of the leaders of the Kaplan Force, on the ‘Day of Disruption’ against the government: “Decision-making processes of the War Cabinet are made due to personal considerations”
With the opening of the Knesset’s summer conference, a ‘day of disruption’ began yesterday (Monday) in a series of centers throughout the country, including Caesarea, Geash, Gilit Exchange, Gonot Exchange, Ben Shemen and Letron. A convoy of vehicles arrived in Jerusalem, and later a march was held from the nation’s buildings to the Knesset, calling for ‘elections now’. Anat Davidov and Udi Segal spoke with Prof. Shakma Bresler, one of the leaders of the protest against the legal reform, which responded to the event.
“I think I was like most of the public at home during war. I believed, I hoped, I wanted to believe that the presence of Gantz, Eisenkot, Gallant in the War Cabinet results in good decision-making for the public. Last week, both the Minister of Defense and Cabinet member Gantz told us that the decision-making processes in the War Cabinet during war Accepted from personal considerations – this is an unequivocal statement regarding wartime damage to the security of the State of Israel,” explained Prof. Bressler at the beginning of the conversation.
She further emphasized that “I am certainly not coordinated, all the listening public has people in the front, people in the rear, family members who have lost everything. We all want this country to get on the right track, and then come in one week and tell us that decisions are made deliberately in favor of personal and political considerations. There is nothing Greater than that as an injury to the security of the state.”
According to her, “I tell the public, sometimes it is hard for us to believe the meaning of the things we hear, but when we listen to what was said this week, the Minister of Defense and Gantz told us, ‘Your children are on the front line today, the abducted are not coming back,’ since decisions are made for personal and political considerations. It cannot be ignored From this, it is impossible to ignore it and say ‘we are cooperating with this event’. There is an unequivocal statement here about harming the country’s security during wartime by this government.”
“The word protest is not appropriate, you protest when you think that the person you are protesting against is attentive to you,” she claimed. “Since the government violated trust and refuses to take responsibility, the expectation that the citizens will sit on the sidelines and continue to maintain the routine, the meaning of this is that we are taking part in desecrating the security of the State of Israel. The people are 70 percent of the public who have been saying for many months that they want elections, who understand that the prime minister makes decisions in times of war from political considerations”.
In conclusion, Prof. Bressler clarified that “we have more power in Mark’s hand to go and vote at the ballot box. The next step, part of which is to explain these things to the public. If we maintain a normal routine, we give a hand to a government that deliberately acts for political considerations and thus harms Israel’s security Every citizen should know, it’s in their hands. If we do it together, the 64 will not stand in our way.”
