Reinschreiber retired from judging and was appointed manager of the team

Roy Reinschreiber decided to retire from judging and was appointed the new manager of the team. The senior referee, who during the past season presided over some of the biggest matches that Israeli football had to offer, decided to end his position in the referees’ union and will now replace Benny Tabak, who was the manager of the national team until recently. The referee is expected to accept the cup final as a retirement game and in the meantime spoke today (Sunday) in the official press conference.

For the past two years, Reinschreiber has worked in the field inspection department at the Football Association and will now be appointed to the prestigious position, working alongside Ran Ben Shimon. The new coach of the Israeli team commented on the appointment: “It is a great privilege, one of my greatest pride to bring a person like him to the team, the team won. I have known Roy for many years, a good friend recommended him to me for the position, I usually call the heads of the team, but as soon as his name came up I called him directly, he is so worthy.”

Rainschreiber He gave an emotional retirement speech: “Very emotional, first of all that they thought of me, I was shocked, I didn’t expect it, but I wrote a few words. Life sometimes leads us to places we never even dreamed of, last week it also happened to me when I received a very surprising phone call from Ren, he asked me about my professional future as an active judge and he had future plans.

Reinschreiber: “The job definition is known”

“After he heard my plans, he made an offer to be the manager of the Israeli national team, a long silence. A lot of scenarios are running through my head, at the same time of course as the end of my career, I have already planned to make a farewell trip next year from every court, from every place, in an orderly manner. I told Ran that no matter what the answer was, it was very flattering and I would reply to him as soon as possible.

“A quick phone call to my wife Sharon, sharing with her tremendous excitement and together we reach a decision: the chosen one above all. Ending the conversation with my wife, seeing the long career as a football referee come to an end after 27 years, of which 14 in the Premier League and 10 years as an international referee.

“I want to thank Ran for thinking outside the box, Shino Zoertz and Niv Goldstein who supported and congratulated the move. I want to thank my house for the last 27 years, the Judges’ Union, of course everything was coordinated with a rival Tafer, if you only now know it shows how strong and very discreet the union is, in general, everyone who touched the matter kept it confidential and I’m very happy.

“15 years ago, Yariv identified a young, enthusiastic judge with great hunger, believed in him and gave him the stage to stand out and lead the union as an international judge over the years. The close escort and tremendous support, when he lay on the fence even in extreme events when he didn’t think he could support and protect. Rival, thank you very much.

“I want to thank Giura Inbar, thank you for the blessing of the road, on Friday we met here and I told him face to face, what happened will remain between us, Giura you are a real man, thank you very much for everything. Thank you to the professional committee headed by Liran Wechsberger, thank you for the trust over the years, for the difficult conversations after less than good games and for the great responsibility when you assigned me to the most difficult games that can be in Israeli football.

“I know I’m creating a big hole, but I trust my fellow judges to know how to get into my slot. Thanks to the judges’ panel Eitan Tabrizi, a mutual friend of the Derech, from whom I learned a lot even as a young judge at the beginning of my career. Thanks to the national guide Haim Ya’akov, who saw me as a young judge in Umm Al Faham and from there to this day gave me the tools and knowledge in the world of judging.

“Thanks to Dr. Roy Samuel, who accompanied me all my years as a referee in the Premier League, knew how to identify my weak points and lift me up after a less than good performance, but also supported and encouraged when needed. To my fellow referees and assistants, your professionalism in recent years has only raised the bar for me to be better and more ambitious. It is certain that you will lead the union to new successes and records in the coming years.

“To Zio Adler, who is a tremendous professional and a close friend for 25 years, your name is a consensus in the referees’ association, thank you for who you are and what you are to me. To Ural Greenfeld, who believed in me as a team member at the highest levels of world football and together we shattered a glass ceiling, thanks for the Champions League matches, for national team matches and an unforgettable Olympics in Tokyo.

“To my co-workers here at the football association, for the past two years we have been working closely together, I am sure that with your help and with you we will be able to perform the job in the best possible way. Last on the list, but actually the most important, my wife Sharon and my children Rani and Ben, your sacrifice in recent years is incomprehensible. Saturdays, holidays, moods after bad games and hundreds of days of hardship and longing thousands of miles away. Only you know what we went through, much love.

“Thank you to my family and my friends who have accompanied me since the first game of my career, a situation that would not have ended until today if my father had not shouted to me ‘finish the game’, I simply stopped the clock during the game and I think we would still be there today. Thank you very much to everyone, to the God of Israel.”

Reinschreiber added: “The definition of the position is known, the system gave me impressions, I know what I’m going towards, it’s good for me both health-wise, and mentally, even a little to change my position and take on this role in a different hat, I know that the team has complexities, I trust myself That I know how to deal with the players, in the end the players are more or less my age, a young manager can create some kind of good connection between the players and the team, trust the professional team that Ran is building these days, know that we will all do everything for the Israel national team.”

Regarding the level of refereeing in Israel, he added: “There is VAR almost all over the world, there is some quality to come and say that it is used a lot, I am sure that even in terms of numbers we are much better than other places, maybe we had a cluster of games and events, the system knows very well where to improve And what to do to be better. The judges also know very well how to act, they do not deviate from protocols and I believe in my colleagues.”
