For its part, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, in a statement, that the meeting witnessed “a review of ways to strengthen bilateral relations and joint cooperation in various fields, and discussed developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and the city of Rafah, and the importance of an immediate ceasefire, in addition to discussing making all efforts to ensure the entry of aid.” urgent humanity.”

US officials have been working to lay the groundwork for such a “sustainable peace” for months, with the idea that this would facilitate a normalization agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel.

In his recent trips to the region, the US Secretary of State stressed that the Israeli government must make “difficult” decisions and move towards a two-state solution if it wants to achieve this normalization with Saudi Arabia and if it wants to support its Arab neighbors for security and reconstruction in Gaza.
