Sayed Moawad, the magician of the left front in Al-Ahly, celebrates his “45th” birthday today

Sayed Moawad is considered one of the most important players in the left-back position in the history of Egyptian football. He was a starter in Ismaily, then Al-Ahly and the Egyptian national team, and for years he occupied this position as long as he was in physical condition. Good technique allows him to be the Mouawad that everyone knows, as he excelled at crosses and balanced between defense and attack.

Moawad began his sports career at the Aluminum Club, then moved to Ismaily, where he won a championship Premier League And the Egypt Cup, then he went professionally with the Turkish Trabzonspor club before joining the ranks of Al-Ahly, in a deal that angered Ismailia after the Dervishes fans refused to give up on him, and after moving to Al-Ahmar, he shined and achieved many championships.



With the club Al-Ahly Sayed Moawad participated in the Club World Cup in 2008 and 2012. He also won the African Champions League 3 times and the African Super Cup 3 times. He participated with the national team in the 2009 Confederations World Cup and was crowned with the Pharaohs in the African Cup of Nations in 2008 and 2010.



Moawad played 81 matches with Al-Ahly in the league, during which he managed to score a single goal, and he played 53 matches in the African Champions League in the red shirt, during which he also scored a single goal.



He officially announced his retirement on June 24, 2014, after winning many championships. At the international level, Sayed Moawad wore the national team’s shirt on 61 occasions, scoring two goals, and he was one of the main elements in the golden generation of the Pharaohs.



After a period of retirement, Hossam El-Badry, the former coach of Al-Ahly, chose him as an assistant coach in the technical staff, who took over responsibility after the departure of the Dutchman Martin Jol in 2016, to contribute to the Red Giants winning a historic treble in the league, the Egyptian Cup, and the Super Cup. He also qualified for the final of the African Champions League and then maintained the title. Al-Douri before submitting his resignation along with the rest of the technical staff. Then Sayed Moawad assumed the position of coach in the Egyptian national team, which was also led by El-Badry before the departure of the entire staff.
