The Spanish star is ready to return the favor…
Spanish Thiago Alcantara, former Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool player, has decided to hang up his boots and retire from football permanently, after a long career in European stadiums.
Alcantara left Liverpool at the end of last season after his contract with the Reds expired. He spent 4 seasons with the Reds, but he only played for a few minutes in the last season due to multiple injuries.
There were press reports about Alcantara joining Barcelona’s technical staff led by Hans Flick, especially since he is one of the German club’s historical stars and is fluent in German, having played for 7 years in the Bundesliga with Bayern.
Alcantara wrote a tweet on his personal account on the social networking site:X“I will always be willing to return the favor, and I am grateful for the time I had,” he said.
He added: “Thank you football, and everyone who accompanied me and made me a better player and person along the way. See you soon.”
Alcantara played 487 matches in all competitions, scoring 48 goals and making 63 assists, most notably in the Champions League, the European Super Cup, the Club World Cup (twice), the German League (7 times), the Spanish League (4 times), and the English League Cup.
