SLU to Host 2024 Tangi Tourism Coaches Memorial Golf Tournament April 8

Hammond, La. – The 24th Annual Southeastern Louisiana University Tangi Tourism Coaches Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off Monday, April 8 at Greystone Country Club in Denham Springs.

Proceeds will benefit the Touchdown Club, the Lion Athletics Association coaches club for the Southeastern football program. This year’s event honors the memories of Robert “Doc” Goodwin, Bob Mahfouz, Kerry “Mark” Varisco and Jerry Joe Dunaway.

Goodwin is a member of the Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame following a 31-year career as the school’s athletic trainer. Mahfouz played for the Lions during the 1955 and 1956 seasons, while also serving as defensive coordinator from 1966-71. Varisco played quarterback for the Lions from 1969-72, while Jerry Joe Dunaway lettered for Southeastern from 1961-64, earning All-Gulf States Conference honors as a senior.

The event, which consists of four-man teams, begins with a 10 a.m. start. Registration is set for 9 a.m. The entry fee is $150 per person or $600 per team.
