South Korea: We submitted our position on Pyongyang’s jamming attacks to 3 international organizations

The South Korean Foreign Ministry announced that it has handed over its position on the GPS jamming attacks launched by North Korea to three relevant international organizations.

Ministry spokesman Lim Soo-suk said, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap on Tuesday, that his country had raised the issue of North Korea’s repeated interference with GPS navigation signals to the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the International Aviation Organization. The International Civil Defense Organization (ICAO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) demanded that the necessary measures be taken in response to the illegal actions by the North.

Seoul also raised this issue with the International Civil Aviation Organization in June of that year; Which led to the adoption of a resolution urging North Korea to fulfill its responsibility as a member of the organization, warning against interference with the GPS system.

In June of that year, the International Maritime Organization adopted a statement condemning the North for threatening ship navigation.
