Sudan welcomes Egypt’s hosting of a conference for all Sudanese civil political forces

Republic welcomed Sudan As contained in the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, regarding Egypt’s intention to host a conference for all Sudanese civil political forces at the end of June 2024.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renews the confidence of the Sudanese government and people in sisterly Egypt and its leadership, as it is the most concerned about the security, peace and stability of Sudan because that is the security, peace and stability of Egypt, and it is also the most capable of helping to reach an inclusive national consensus among the Sudanese to resolve the current crisis. Therefore, the Egyptian role in this regard is required and welcomed.

The Ministry appreciates the statement’s emphasis on respecting its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, non-interference in its internal affairs, and preserving the state and its institutions, as well as that the goal of the conference should be to reach a purely Sudanese vision, given that the crisis is essentially a Sudanese issue.

In order for these good endeavors to succeed, the following must be brought along:

1. That there be a true representation of the silent majority of the Sudanese people, whose blood was shed, whose honor was violated, whose property was looted, and who were forcibly displaced, and whom the popular resistance expresses.

2. The basis of participation should be to affirm the existing legitimacy in the country, maintain national institutions, especially the armed forces, and refuse to weaken or question them.

3. Clarifying who are the regional and international partners who will attend the conference and the limits of their role, especially since the conference is intended to reach a purely Sudanese vision.

4. In this context, it must be emphasized that it will not be acceptable to the Sudanese people for the sponsors of the terrorist Rapid Support militia to attend the conference, who continue to supply it with lethal weapons to kill innocent people, violate honor, and destroy the infrastructure of the country, or the neighboring countries that the Security Council experts’ report referred to as A partner in the passage and transit of weapons flights from the UAE to Chad through Umm Djeres Airport, which was prepared for the entry of these supplies and from there to Darfur.

5. The Sudanese people also do not accept at all the representation of any regional or international organization that has been silent about condemning the crimes of the terrorist militia and its grave violations of international humanitarian law and human rights in their various aspects, even in the capacity of an observer. This is also the case with the countries that have become a base for the propaganda and political work of the militia and the laundering of the money it collects. It is responsible for plundering and smuggling the country’s wealth.

6. Sudan specifically adheres to the African Union and IGAD not participating unless this is preceded by the start of actual steps to lift the freeze on Sudan’s activity in the continental organization, and for IGAD to correct its position that violates Sudan’s sovereignty, so that it can be trusted by the Sudanese people, enabling it to attend a conference like this.

7. In any case, the role of any regional or international parties that will attend the conference should not exceed the role of observer and affirming the international community’s support for what the participants reach of their free will without trying to impose any external agenda or visions of these parties, as happened before.
