After taking advantage of the exit clause in his contract less than a month ago, Tamir Blatt is on his way to signing a new contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Remember, Blatt paid $100,000 to become a free agent in order to get a better contract. For their part, the Yellows did everything they could to keep the center, who is expected to soon sign a new two-year contract in exchange for $1.2 million for the entire period, a significant upgrade from the previous contract, in which he earned about $400,000 per season.
Maccabi Tel Aviv even wanted to sign a longer contract with the player, but the parties reached an understanding in principle on a new two-year contract. As I remember, in light of his good Euroleague season at Maccabi, Blatt received interest from several teams on the continent, but in the end he will remain in yellow.
Blatt had a successful debut season in the Maccabi Tel Aviv uniform, which he arrived this summer after two years in Germany’s Alba Berlin, and returned to play under Oded Ketch, who previously coached him in Hapoel Jerusalem and, of course, Nevarharat Israel. Blatt averaged 7 points and 4.8 assists in the Euroleague this season, and became a significant player for the Yellows. Even in the league, Blatt was very significant in the victory of the yellows in the championship.
