The Belgian national team lost its first match in the tournament to Slovakia with a clean goal, achieving with that victory its first 3 points in the tournament, and occupying second place in the group on goal difference, behind Romania in first place.

The Slovakia national team occupies third place in the group with 3 points as well, and the Ukrainian national team is at the bottom of the standings with the same balance of points.

The Belgium national team achieved its first victory in major tournaments, since defeating Canada 1-0 in the first round of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Belgium took the lead through Youri Tielemans in the second minute, before his teammate Kevin De Bruyne added the second goal in the 80th minute.

The Belgian team succeeded in scoring an early goal in the second minute, through Youri Tielemans, as Jeremy Doku passed the ball from the left side to Lukaku, who was stationed inside the penalty area, who in turn passed it to Tielemans coming from behind, where he shot a ball that shook the net of Romanian goalkeeper Florion Neita.

After the goal, the Romanian team came out trying to equalize, and its winger Dennis Mann moved on the right side, trying to make a difference, as he did in the first match against Ukraine, which ended in a 3-0 victory for his team.

Despite the Romanian attack, the Belgian team controlled the course of the match, possessed the ball, and deprived its opponent of possession, especially in the midfield, which forced the Romanian team to retreat backward.

The rest of the minutes of the first half did not witness anything new, so the referee blew the final whistle with Belgium leading 1-0.

At the beginning of the second half, the Belgian team continued to dominate the ball, while the Romanian team focused intensely on defense, for fear of conceding a second goal into its own net.

De Bruyne shot twice at Neita’s goal, but he was unlucky in light of the brilliance of the Romanian goalkeeper, who also blocked other chances for Doku and Lukaku.

In the 55th minute, Mihaela, the left winger of the Romanian national team, shot a powerful ball from outside the penalty area, but it lacked accuracy and went over the crossbar of goalkeeper Quin Castiles.

Lukaku scored a goal for Belgium in the 62nd minute, but the referee ruled it out for offside while receiving a pass from De Bruyne.

The Belgian team succeeded in scoring the second goal in the 80th minute, as the goalkeeper Castells sent a high ball, but the Romanian defense misjudged it, and it reached De Bruyne, who put it past Neita.

Romania’s goalkeeper, Neita, blocked a powerful shot from the right by Lukaku, denying another dangerous chance from the Belgium striker in the 88th minute.

The rest of the minutes of the second half did not witness anything new, so the referee blew the final whistle and the match ended with Belgium winning 2-0.
