The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning launches the initiative to plant trees in the city of East Sitra in cooperation with the national initiative “Stay Green”

Manama, May 26 (BNA): Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, confirmed that the Ministry pays great attention to planting residential cities and allocating many green spaces in all projects, in line with the Kingdom’s plans to reach carbon neutrality by 2060, and efforts to provide the necessary components for The quality of housing cities, in line with Goal 11 of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, which states “Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.”

This came during the launch of the afforestation initiative of the East Sitra City Housing Project, in the presence of Her Excellency Ms. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Sheikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Sector Development, and Engineer Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of Municipal Affairs, and Engineer Asim Abdul Latif Abdullah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, Engineer Yasser Abdul Rahim Al-Abbasi, President of the Gulf Petrochemical Industry Company, and a number of officials in the Ministry and those in charge of the initiative.

On the sidelines of the launch of the initiative, Minister Amna Al Rumaihi appreciated the efforts of Sheikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Sector Development, and all those responsible for implementing afforestation initiatives, and the objectives included in this initiative that are based on supporting the Kingdom’s strategies to increase the green area through coordination with the public sectors. Special for implementing afforestation projects and sustaining the development of the agricultural sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and highlighting the aesthetic features of the Kingdom and its interest in agriculture as a historical heritage.

Minister Al-Rumaihi said that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning supports the efforts of the national afforestation initiative out of a common interest in increasing the green area in housing city projects, noting that the afforestation initiative for the city of East Sitra is the second of its kind, after the launch of the afforestation initiative for the city of East Hidd earlier, noting in In this regard, the Ministry, in coordination with the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, launched a new initiative when starting to deliver housing units in the city of East Sitra, which consists of giving each beneficiary of his housing unit an agricultural seedling, with the aim of encouraging agriculture within the housing units.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Planning also praised the great support and active participation of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company to support afforestation efforts in various governorates of the Kingdom, including residential cities, noting that this support embodies the complementary relationship between the governmental and private sectors to achieve the Kingdom’s goals in this field.

For her part, Sheikha Maram bint Issa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Sector Development, praised the efforts of the Ministry of Housing through the great interest it gives to afforestation of housing projects to increase green spaces, which will contribute to reducing the air temperature in addition to the psychological benefits that afforestation provides to the people of the region. .

She also thanked the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company for their continued support for the campaign, noting the importance of activating more joint cooperation methods in a way that contributes to the advancement of the agricultural sector and the expansion of green areas in all regions of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

For his part, Engineer Yasser Abdul Rahim Al-Abbasi, CEO of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, praised the success of the afforestation plan, praising in this regard the tireless efforts of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the country’s great monarch and President of the Supreme Council for Women, may God protect her, in proposing and following up on the implementation of many Among the environmental and green initiatives, in addition to the efforts of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to plant trees in residential areas, praising also the cooperation shown by all relevant parties in preserving the environment and increasing the green area and planting trees in all regions of the Kingdom of Bahrain to achieve the desired environmental effects and maintain air quality. .

Engineer Al-Abbasi also expressed his appreciation for the exceptional efforts made by Sheikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, in following up on the stages of launching the national afforestation campaign, “Stay Green.”

He added that the positive environmental impact of the afforestation campaign prompts the company to continue providing its support for the next stages of this plan, which will enhance government goals in achieving carbon neutrality in addition to enhancing biodiversity, so that the Kingdom becomes one of the important locations for implementing environmental initiatives that will contribute effectively to enhancing the elements of Sustainability and spreading community awareness about the importance of agriculture and its important role in maintaining clean air and a healthy environment enjoyed by the Kingdom’s residents and residents.
