Dr. Ihab El-Meligy, a member of the General Assembly of the Chamber of Tourism Companies, revealed the causes of death of Egyptian pilgrims who traveled irregularly to perform Hajj rituals.

During his interview with Azza Mustafa on the Sada El Balad channel, Al-Meliji explained that 25,000 pilgrims traveled in an organized manner and did not face any problems, while victims fell due to fake tourism companies and brokers who took advantage of citizens’ desire to perform Hajj on visit visas.

He confirmed that citizens electronically signed the terms of the visit visa that absolved the broker of responsibility, and that 16 tourism companies issued fake barcodes to pilgrims, and the licenses of these companies were withdrawn and their owners were referred for investigation.

A member of the General Assembly of the Chamber of Tourism Companies stressed that the deaths occurred outside the system of regular tourism companies, and that pilgrims who traveled on visit visas were exposed to great risks due to the lack of organization or adequate health services.
