The Tunisian Coast Guard announced the thwarting of 30 human smuggling operations across the maritime border surreptitiously, and the rescue of 614 migrants, including two Tunisians, in addition to the recovery of two bodies, which were referred to the Ministry of Public Health.
The General Administration of the Tunisian National Guard stated in a statement published on Sunday that the National Guard units in Sfax, in the framework of joint action with the Rapid Intervention and Law Enforcement Regiments, were able to arrest 22 people wanted from brokers of irregular migration operations across the sea.
She added that, as part of the joint action, 437 random tents belonging to migrants holding foreign African nationalities were removed, and 27 marine boats, three marine engines, and a quantity of fuel were seized.
The Public Administration confirmed in its statement that the necessary legal measures had been taken against the detainees.
