He said, “I am lower than what you say and higher than what you have in yourself.” He continued the discussion and said to him: “How will you go to pray while you are tempted? How will you prostrate to your Lord when your heart is full of temptation?” So what did Dar Al-Iftaa say about temptation?

On the authority of Hudhayfah, may God be pleased with him, he said: We were with Omar, may God be pleased with him, and he said: Which of you heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, mention temptations? Some people said: We heard him. He said: Perhaps you mean the man’s temptation against his family and neighbours? They said: Yes. He said: These are expiated by prayer, fasting, and charity, but which of you heard the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, mention that which waves the waves of the sea? Hudhayfah said: The people remained silent, so I said: I am. He said: You, your father belongs to God! Hudhayfah said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, saying: “Trials spread over hearts like mats, stick by stick, so any heart I drink from, a black spot has been marked on it, and any heart that denies it.” Yes, a white spot was cut into it, until it became like two hearts, as white as Safa, so it was not A temptation will harm him as long as the heavens and the earth last, and the other is black and dusty like a cup, vomiting, he does not know what is right, nor does he deny what is wrong, except what he has drunk from “His desire,” Hudhayfah said: I told him, “There is a closed door between you and her that is about to be broken.” Omar said: Break it, no. Your father? If it had been opened, perhaps it would have been repeated. I said: “No, it will be broken,” and I told him, “Indeed, at that door is a man who will be killed or die recently, not with errors.” Abu Khaled said: So I said to Saad: O Abu Malik, what are the lions of Murbad? He said: “The intensity of whiteness in blackness.” He said: I said: What is the juicy jug? He said: “reversed.” Agreed upon.

So, based on the words of the Master of Creation, may the best prayers and peace be upon him, temptations are two temptations: the temptation of all times, all circumstances, and all times, which is: “the temptation of a man in his family, his wealth, his soul, his children, and his neighbour.” And just as this type of temptation is permanent and continuous, it is not related to a time without time, nor In any case, therefore, the treatment came from this type of daily temptations – so to speak -, so the treatment was with daily prayers, deeds, and obedience, of which the forefront is: “prayer, charity, and enjoining what is right and forbidding what is evil.”

As for the second type of temptations, they are related to a specific time in which they appear, and then their effect extends to the end of time. It appears at its most intense, until it reaches the point: “that ripples like the waves of the sea,” and these waves end in the greatest temptation in history, which is the temptation of the Antichrist.

The secret of presenting temptations to the hearts is that man is tested and tested in this worldly life. The basis, meaning, and purpose of temptation is testing and testing. Based on that, rarely does a human being experience a situation without it being possible for him to be tested by it. If a temptation situation comes to him, Satan knows that it is his. In the case of a human being, when he seizes an opportunity and is caught off guard, he makes it a vehicle for his plot and a thorn to engage him. If the heart does not have faith firmly established in it, but rather it floats around on it; Like moss on water, the part of the temptation that shocks him is neither firm nor strong, so it shudders at the temptation and is cut off and the heart drinks it up. As much of the heart is exposed to it, a black mark is stained on it from that space in which the temptation entered; Because the heart contains meanings, so if temptation comes to it from one of those meanings and he drinks it, that other place becomes black, and it continues like that until his entire heart becomes black in all its aspects. The interpretation of this is that if a lamp were hung in a bottle, and the bottle was clear in all its aspects, it would give light from All its sides. If smoke comes across it from one of its sides, and it repeats itself over it and is not touched upon, then that place is black. If that had been in all its parts, it would be darkened from all its sides. One of the signs of this blackness that has settled in the heart is that it does not deny an evil, and it does not recognize a good except I do not drink from his desires, and the meaning of his saying: “Except what I drink from his desires” is that if he denounced an evil one day, it would be a desire that would mix with him, not for God. And just as these hearts have their colors dyed by things that come upon them from outside, so their colors are known by the actions that come from them outside. .

As for the other heart, it is the one in which he said: “And any heart that denies it, a white mark is made on it until it becomes white like Safa, and no temptation will harm it as long as the heavens and the earth endure.” If temptation encounters the believing heart, then he denies it with a level of denial that stirs up his faith and ignites his piety with fear toward his Lord. And modesty from his Creator, Glory be to Him, how did something like that appear to him, or cross his mind, and an apology for his creation of humanity and how this affects it, and such was his condition; Such as washing, washing, and purifying their hearts, especially in the place where an increase of white has entered the heart, so that it is whiter than the rest of the entire heart, and so on until the entire heart becomes white, so it is like a clear light with a shining lamp in it. Satan does not approach it from one direction without seeing it, and he does not move. When he was going up to it, he noticed it and saw its paths and the paths that led to stairs leading to it.

O God, for the sake of the Master of Messengers, grant us safety from all kinds of temptations. What is apparent from it and what is hidden.
