Orli Levy his daughter: “Our father, our family members, but also many people who saw you as a father. The one who you know will fight for you even when it’s hard. The one who will show you the way. Every person has a mission but not everyone is ready to give up for the mission. Your mission It was for the sake of the state of Israel. You knew that your mission was to break down the barrier of separation. It’s amazing that you had to fight for the obvious. In your case, it’s difficult to determine whether the circumstances of life led you to become a leader.”
She read an excerpt from her father’s book about his decision to become a leader. “Dad, that’s how you are. Like the phoenix, you knew how to stand up and fight for society in Israel. Iron ceilings were shattered and I reached the position of Foreign Minister. You made sure to establish relations with many countries for the country. Father Evan said you were the best foreign minister. You did everything for the country and what prices you paid.”
“Look, father, how much you succeeded. How many values you demanded in us. Like our father Jacob, you represented 12 tribes. Look how proud we are of you today and I know you are proud of us too. How important unity was to you. The family, like the unity of the people. It is so difficult to speak about you in language Move on and understand that the world goes on without a soul like you. We are losing a great man, but we are gaining a huge honor in the sky for the State of Israel. We will continue here to take care of mother.”
President Herzog Sephard Lalevy: “We are saying goodbye with pain to an Israeli legend here in the city of Beit Shan, which he loved so much and to which he is so happy to return. David was a model of determination and love for the Land of Israel. He overcame imaginary bumps and shattered glass ceilings for the entire Israeli society. He continued on his path with determination. Foreign Minister Mythological, as an unforgettable Minister of Housing. My father told me that David Levy was supposed to be Prime Minister, but the State of Israel did not give him an excellent Prime Minister, it was not for nothing that he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, and so was I The government was privileged to work with him as foreign minister. We miss his controlled political vision even in these difficult days. He had a huge Jewish heart, he single-handedly changed the image of the country.”
“You have come a long way, my teacher and rabbi, from the Malach of Rabat, to the highest peaks, which you climbed with ten fingers, and sometimes with bare feet,” Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana eulogized, “you were born and grew up in the days when a world war broke out, in which six million of our brothers and sisters were destroyed , and thanks to the policy of the then king of Morocco, Mohammed V, peace be upon him, was saved along with the majority of Moroccan Jewry from the clutches of the Nazi devil. At the age of 19 and a half, you immigrated to Israel, which was not all milk and honey. You fought for your place, a struggle that became the struggle of many. When the dry law was barren and hard-hearted, the decision that you – you are David son of Moshe and Simi, will be the lawgiver – rewarded you in your heart.”
Ohana also added: “With your sensitivity, your wisdom, your moderation and your judgment, you climbed not only up the buildings you built, but also up the hearts of the people. I myself did not get to know you personally in those days, I myself was a simple child from Be’er Sheva, the son of a father who also came from those You know me from my childhood, but I knew your public figure – and I was proud. “.
His grandson, commander of the Haruv Patrol, Lt. Col. David Levy: “Who am I to eulogize a great man like you? That you only had a glass ceiling from the teacher along the way. You don’t realize what a legacy and power you left behind. To bear your name is pride. When I say my name and that I am from Beit Shan, they ask me if I am related to David Levi. I nod and then hear: ‘You don’t know who your grandfather is.’ Grandfather, you were a great leader, a builder of Jerusalem and Israel. You dined at the tables of kings and presidents but you never agreed to eat in front of the security guards. The anointing was always before your eyes. You taught us to fight for the righteousness of the way even if it requires paying a price.”
The grandson, who is named after the late minister, added: “You taught us a huge lesson, we make the decisions and that comes individually with responsibility. You will be buried in the house where you loved so much as one person. Look at what a precious family you and your grandfather have established. All we have to do is say thank you for what you gave For us and you were for us. It is important that we remember you as someone who broke the glass ceiling, who saw everyone as equal and believed in the melting pot. In times like this we must look to you and your legacy.”
