The artist, Yousra, talked about the scenes of her only singing experience, “3 Daqat,” with the singer Mohamed Abu Al-Enein, known as “Abu,” which was presented on the sidelines of the closing of the El Gouna Film Festival in 2017.
She said during the “Big Time” podcast with journalist Amr Adib and singer Asala, broadcast on “MBC1” on Saturday evening, that the song achieved tremendous success after it received 800 million views on the YouTube platform in the first year, in addition to a billion views in the following year.
She added that she was surprised by the success of the song, commenting: “Someone spoke to me and said, ‘Abu, who is the singer? I want you to sing with him.’ I told him, ‘Who is Abu?’” He told me his name is that, and when I met him, I apologized to him at first, so he asked me for a chance to listen to the song, and the first time I heard it, I loved it.”
She admitted that she was afraid of the experience at first, but she liked the song after hearing it and agreed to participate.
Yousra recounted that she performed 16 experiments in one hour until she reached the desired result, noting that she discovered after recording that the song’s lyrics were written by screenwriter Tamer Habib.
She expressed her concern about her voice after recording, saying: “After I recorded the song, I stipulated that if my voice turned out bad, he would delete it, and if it came out good, he would let it go. I told him, ‘Don’t be rude to me,’” noting that she also asked him to add a drum at the end of the song to give it a special touch.
She pointed out that businessman engineer Naguib Sawiris asked “Abu” to film a video clip for the song after he liked it, attributing the reason for its success to it being a love story suitable for all ages.
