Arman Tsarukyan Defeats Charles Oliveira, Sends Message to Islam Makhachev

Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan have wrapped up their pivotal lightweight scrap at UFC 300.

The matchup between “do Bronx” and “Ahalkalakets
” had high stakes, as the winner would potentiallly be in line for a shot as Islam Makhachev for the UFC Lightweight Championship.

Oliveira jumped a guillotine early in the opening round. Tsarukyan forced his head free, but Oliveira was in mount.

Tsarukyan eventually ended up in top control. He rained down a big elbow that got through Oliveira’s guard. An illegal upkick landed from “do Bronx.” Oliveira was given a hard warning and the action resumed in the same position.

Oliveira got back to his feet and landed an elbow on the break at the end of round one.

Oliveira hugged Tsarukyan to apologize for the upkick. Arman ate a kick that didn’t seem to bother him. Arman had an axe kick. The two scrambled and Oliveira had his back against the cage.

Tsarukyan took Oliveira down. Charles scored an elbow from the bottom. Later in the round, Tsarukyan landed some vicious elbows, which cut Oliveira as the second round ended.

Oliveira went for a flying knee early in the final frame. Late in the round, Oliveira went for a D’arce choke with about 30 seconds left in the fight. Tsarukyan showed a thumbs up and he survived to the final horn.

The score totals were read and this one was a split decision. Two of the three judges scored the fight for Arman Tsarukyan.

Winner: Arman Tsarukyan

After the fight, Tsarukyan told Joe Rogan that if he’s given a chance to challenge for the UFC Lightweight Championship he will get his revenge on Islam Makhachev.
