Doha – April 12 (KUNA) – – The Qatari club Al-Arabi won the title (Qatari-UAE Super Cup) after defeating its guest, Al-Sharjah, UAE, 1-0, in the match that took place between them today, Friday, in the Qatari capital (Doha).
Al Thumama World Cup Stadium hosted the first edition of the Qatari-UAE Super Cup between Al Arabi (holder of the Emir of Qatar Cup last season) and Al Sharjah (champion of the President’s Cup in the UAE last season).
The first half of the match ended goalless, without goals, and in the second half, Al-Arabi player Youssef Al-Masakni was able to score the lead and winning goal in the 58th minute, so the match ended with Al-Arabi Qatar winning the Super Cup title.
The Qatari-UAE Super Cup champion will receive $800,000, while the runner-up will receive $400,000.
The organizing committee of the Qatari-Emirati Football Super Cup announced last January in Doha the launch of the first edition of the joint tournament between Qatar and the UAE (Super Shield) and (Super Cup).
Tomorrow, Saturday, in the Emirates, Al-Duhail will face its host, Shabab Al-Ahly, in the first edition of the (Qatari-Emirati Super Shield) tournament at Rashid Stadium in Dubai. The Super Shield champion will receive $800,000, while the runner-up will receive $400,000. (End) S S S / M M C
