Memorial Day for IDF Martyrs and Victims of Hostilities 2024: The Events, Ceremonies and Neighborhood Initiatives

In the shadow of the ‘Iron Swords’ war, which since broke out on the Black Saturday of the 7/10, more than 1,300 martyrs and murdered have been added to the circle of national bereavement, today, Sunday, May 12, the Day of Remembrance for the fallen of Israel’s systems and victims of hostilities will be observed. It will be the most difficult Memorial Day since the Yom Kippur War, if not the most difficult since the establishment of the state.

Throughout Jerusalem, as every year, there will be memorial events and various state ceremonies, as well as local and neighborhood ceremonies. The spotlight will, obviously, be directed to the victims of ‘iron systems’, but the memory of the victims and those murdered since the establishment of the state will not be remembered either. The public, of course, is invited to participate in the various ceremonies and events and remember the best of his sons and daughters.

“In recent months, Jerusalem has lost some of its best sons and daughters, who fell in the various battlefields and were murdered in the terrible massacre of the 7/10,” Mayor Moshe Leon points out. “This year we will all gather together here in Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people, we will remember, embrace and hurt. We will forever remember that in their death they commanded us life. May their memory be blessed.”
