North Korea’s leader calls on his army to intensify practical war exercises

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, on Thursday, called on his country’s army to intensify practical military training, directing it to strengthen combat capabilities.

The South Korean News Agency (Yonhap) reported that this came during the North Korean leader’s visit to a military training base in the country’s western region.

Yonhap reported, citing the North Korean Central News Agency, that Kim – during his visit – inspected the military base and supervised the actual maneuvers of the military units, specifying important tasks to intensify practical training for actual warfare to ensure victory in the war.

It is noteworthy that the Korean leader’s visit came two days after South Korea and the United States began the annual Freedom Shield exercises. To strengthen deterrence against North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats, Pyongyang condemned the joint exercises and warned that the two countries will pay a heavy price.
