Real Madrid announces that Luka Modric’s contract will not be renewed for next season

The Spanish newspaper “Relevo” reported on Tuesday that Real Madrid’s management will not renew the contract of Croatian star Luka Modric for next season.

The newspaper indicated that the decision has been taken practically and will be decided in the coming weeks, when the club will be able to honor its legend in an appropriate manner, despite Modric’s desire to continue with the team.

According to the newspaper, Modric is ready to give up some money in order to stay with the team, but the technical management at the Santiago Bernabeu believes that Modric’s stage is over, and that the time has come to make room for young people like Arda Guler.

It is expected that a special ceremony will be organized to bid farewell to Modric, who spent 12 years at Real Madrid and participated in more than 530 matches, where he won all possible championships with the team, in addition to important individual awards such as the Golden Ball and “The Best” awards.
