‘Star Wars’ and ‘Gremlins’ voice actor Mark Dodson dies before convention appearance

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE/Gray News) – Mark Dodson, known for voicing Salacious Crumb in “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi,” has died, his daughter said.

Dodson tragically passed away in his sleep after suffering a heart attack at a hotel in Evansville, Indiana, where he was set to make an appearance at Evansville Horror Con.

In addition to his role as Salacious Crumb, he was featured in “Gremlins,” “Day of the Dead” and several video games.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fans during this incredibly difficult time,” Evansville Horror Con organizers said on Facebook. “We hope that you can take a moment out of your day to reflect on the joy and laughter that Mark brought into the world.”

Dodson was 64.
