If you are also changing your number and want to keep your WhatsApp account as it is but change the number and notify your contacts at the same time and save the data, here is a step by step guide to help you in the process.
How to change phone number on WhatsApp
Before starting the process, please note that this built-in feature works best if you are keeping the same phone, however, if you are completely switching phones, you will need to create a local backup on your old phone.
Step 1: Open the WhatsApp application on your old phone.
Step 2: Go to Settings. On Android, tap the three vertical dots in the upper right corner. For iPhone users, Settings is located in the bottom right corner.
Step 3: Click on “Account” then “Change Number”.
Step 4: Review the information that appears on the screen. It basically confirms that changing your number will migrate your account details, chats, and settings.
Step 5: Click “Next” and enter your old and new phone numbers. Check back for accuracy!
Step 6: Choose how you want to notify your contacts. WhatsApp offers three options:

– Decide whether you want to include videos in the backup. (Keep in mind that including videos can significantly increase the size of your backup.)
