The star, Sherine Abdel Wahab, once again entered into the dispute with the Rotana audio and video company, which reached the point of exchanging statements and threatening to resort to legal measures.
Sources from Rotana commented on the controversy that heated up yesterday, Tuesday, and the accusations leveled by star Sherine Abdel Wahab.
The source said, in a special statement to “Masrawy”: “First, we confirm our respect for the artist Sherine Abdel Wahab, but everything that was reported about the expiration of the contract is not true.”
Regarding the details of the artist’s discharge, he replied: “Indeed, it was done, after receiving an amount of 8 million pounds, in accordance with the ruling of the Economic Court, regarding the penalty clause stipulated in the event of breach of the contract, and this has nothing to do with the contract itself and its validity.”
The source explained: “If the contract has already been terminated, why talk about delaying the songs? Note that the company, as it mentioned in its statement, has only received one song, which is (Gold), which has already been released on all Arab and international platforms.”
Legal expert Hossam Lotfy, in a statement to “Masrawy”, said: “The star, Sherine Abdel Wahab, now has the freedom to contract with whomever she wants, and she is not bound by any contract with Rotana.”
He continued: “After receiving the ruling issued by the Economic Court in September 2023, I, in my capacity as agent for Al-Najma, handed over to Mr. Mohamed Helmy, in his capacity as agent for the CEO of Rotana, Mr. Salem Al-Hindi, a check for 8 million pounds, on December 18, 2023.”
Lotfy added: “The handover report stipulates that the star Sherine Abdel Wahab is acquitted.”
Star Sherine Abdel Wahab, after her concert that was held at Arena Kuwait, appeared in a video clip, talking about Rotana’s role in delaying the release of 6 songs, and said, “I don’t know when Rotana will release them. I don’t know why they are in this world’s position?”
