Hossam Hassan, the coach of the national team, announced that Omar Marmoush, the German Eintracht Frankfurt player, was injured, before the Pharaohs’ next two matches in the African qualifiers for the World Cup.

In the coming days, the Egyptian national team is preparing to face Burkina Faso and Guinea Bissau, in the third and fourth rounds, respectively, of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where the Egypt and Burkina Faso match will be held in Cairo on June 6, while the match against Guinea Bissau will take place outside Cairo on June 10.

Hossam Hassan said during a session with journalists at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association: “Marmoush injured his finger, and Ibrahim Hassan, the national team’s director of football, communicated with him and his club’s management, and the player decided to have an operation after his last match with his team in the German League.”

He added: “We asked his club to postpone the operation for Omar Marmoush for 10 days, and we sent a fax to his club about that, but they refused this matter, and so did the player, under the pretext that the surgery had been booked and there was no way to cancel it.”
