An Egyptian statement warning against launching an Israeli military operation in Rafah

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that “Egypt called on Israel to comply with its responsibilities as the occupying power, foremost of which is its responsibility to provide protection and a decent life for citizens under occupation, to refrain from targeting civilians, and to provide urgent aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip.”

The Ministry said: “Egypt also renewed its warning against the dangers of carrying out any military operation in the city of Rafah due to its dire humanitarian consequences, which would befall Palestinian civilians who took refuge in Rafah as the last safe haven inside the Gaza Strip, considering that undertaking this measure despite the warnings and international rejection of it, reflects the lack of Caring for the lives of innocent civilians is a grave violation of international law and international humanitarian law.”

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded its statement by saying: “Egypt renewed its call to influential international parties and the Security Council to assume legal and humanitarian responsibility by demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, preventing the displacement scenario from being realized by all means, putting an end to the ongoing Israeli violations against civilians, and implementing aid.” Humanitarian aid urgently and by all means within the Gaza Strip.”
