Bono: I left Seville due to family problems

Yassine Bounou, Al Hilal goalkeeper, revealed the reason behind his departure from Seville and accepting the Saudi offer.

Bono joined the ranks of Al Hilal Saudi Arabia, during the last summer transfer period, for a period of 3 seasons, ending in June 2026.

Bono said in media statements reported by the Spanish newspaper Marca: “Last season was difficult, it was not good, and it was not me. I was suffering from family problems, and I had to draw strength and all my experience, but I could not, so I could not continue with Seville emotionally. “I need a change in my mental health.”

He added: “You can’t be in a place knowing you can’t be there. I’ve only had a little bit of life. Training, taking a nap and thinking about training the next day.”

He continued: “When I saw that I did not have the energy necessary to continue giving everything to the club, I had the opportunity to leave. If I had stayed, my performance would not have been the same.”

He concluded: “This is love for the club, and it is sincere not to be there when you cannot provide what is required. Everything they gave me was something incredible. I will keep it with me forever. I love them very much.”

Yassin Bounou won the Saudi Super Cup with Al-Hilal at the expense of Al-Ittihad Jeddah, yesterday, Thursday, in a match that ended with a score of (4-1) in favor of Al-Zaeem.
