Feyenoord coach Arne Slot confirmed on Friday that he will coach Liverpool, competing in the English Premier League, next season after the departure of Jurgen Klopp at the end of the current season.
ESPN quoted Sloat as saying in a press conference, “I can confirm that I will become Liverpool coach next season.”
Liverpool have not yet officially confirmed the name of Klopp’s successor.
The German coach will leave after the club’s final match of the season against Wolverhampton on Sunday.
Slott added, “Until now I did not think that it would be my last preparation before my last match, but that is how things go. That is why I was a little late now (for the press conference), because I wanted to say goodbye to some people and devote some time to them, more than just shaking hands.” .
The Dutch coach continued, “It is very nice to feel that people really think it is a shame for me to leave.”
Feyenoord confirmed Slott’s departure, and posted a video clip on the well-known social networking platform
Slot has coached the Dutch club since 2021, and won the Dutch League title in the 2022-2023 season, in addition to the Dutch Cup this season.
Feyenoord also reached the final of the European Conference League in Slott’s first season with the club.
Klopp announced last January that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the current season, although speculation linked Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso and Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim to the position. But Slott, 45, got it.
Slot extended his contract with Feyenoord at the end of last season until 2026, and media reports stated that Liverpool needed to pay an undisclosed sum to the Dutch club in exchange for the services of the Dutch coach.

Slot’s speculation was linked to the possibility of coaching Tottenham Hotspur at the end of last season, before he extended his contract with Feyenoord, and his attacking style attracted Liverpool.
In his first season, he led Feyenoord to third place and won the league title last year.
This season, the great PSV Eindhoven prevented him from repeating the title.
Slot’s success and the entertaining football he offers attracted the interest of several English clubs, including Crystal Palace and Leeds United, before Tottenham tried to tempt him with a move to north London at the end of last season.
But he decided to stay at Feyenoord and extend his contract, but Liverpool’s approach proved irresistible and Slott will now take over the task of succeeding the much-loved Klopp, who joined in 2015 and built a legacy over nearly 500 games.
