Investigations by the security services in Sohag revealed the mystery of the disappearance of a child from his family’s residence, in Maragha, north of the governorate, since last November.
It turned out that the child’s father was behind the disappearance. The accused was arrested, and when confronted, he confessed to committing the incident, and the Public Prosecution began investigations.
The beginning was a report received by the warden of the Maragha Police Station last November from Aisha A., a 39-year-old housewife who resides in the station’s office, about the disappearance of her son, Abdul Moez B., a 10-year-old student, from the family’s residence.
She added that she is separated from her husband called “Bakhit M.,” 40 years old, a livestock trader, and she has a court ruling for custody of her two children, “the aforementioned absentee, and his brother Ibrahim, 15 years old, a student in the third year of middle school.”
A research team was formed under the supervision of Major General Muhammad Zein, Director of Criminal Investigations, to uncover the mystery of the incident. Investigations by officers of the Maragha Police Station Investigation Unit revealed that the father of the aforementioned missing child, called “Bakhit M,” 40 years old, is a pedestrian merchant and resides in the station’s district. Due to disagreements between him and his ex-wife over custody of the two children.
The aforementioned accused was arrested, and when he was confronted, he admitted that there were disagreements between him and his ex-wife regarding custody of the children, and his desire for his two children to reside with him. He added that in November 2023, his son who reported his absence came to him without his mother’s knowledge and stayed with him for several days, without his mother writing a report about it. He continued that he requested He asked his son to stay with him and not return to his mother, but he refused, which led him to assault him and beat him severely with his hands until he fainted. Then he held his breath and put his hands on his neck until he died.
Regarding his disposal of his son’s body after his death, the father said that he dug a hole inside the house, then put a plastic barrel inside it that was used to store water, then threw the body inside it, then put a small layer of dirt on it, then put an amount of concrete until the barrel was filled, then Then level the floor with dirt at the same level as the house; To hide the evidence of the crime, adding that after committing the crime, he left the country and traveled to Alexandria Governorate under the pretext of searching for work, and returned to the country two days ago. For the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
The body was exhumed in a state of decomposition under the guidance of the accused, and transported to the morgue of the Maragha Central Hospital, a report was drawn up on the incident, and the Public Prosecution took over the investigations.
