Egypt witnessed the strongest storm since 1994 on March 12, 2020, while today marks the fourth anniversary of the Dragon Storm, during which the country witnessed heavy rains, reaching torrential rains at times, and was accompanied by a noticeable drop in temperatures and clear wind activity.

The dragon storm caused human and material losses, and thunderstorms and torrents struck Cairo and a number of governorates, leading to human and material losses, while the government closed schools.

The storm was the result of the country being exposed to an air depression as a result of the convergence of hot winds coming from Libya and cold winds coming from Europe.

This anniversary coincides with the issuance of an official statement from the General Meteorological Authority, warning of the weather conditions during the coming hours.

The authority said in its statement issued a short while ago: As of next Sunday evening, corresponding to March 17, 2024, there will be an expected state of instability in weather conditions, accompanied by rainfall of varying intensity in areas of the north and south of the country.

The statement added: The General Authority of Meteorology is closely following the expected weather condition, and will issue a detailed description of the expected weather condition when the maps and numerical models are proven and the time period approaches to ensure the accuracy and quality of the forecast.

But an official source at the Meteorological Authority confirmed to Masrawy that the dragon storm will not be repeated in Egypt, as the next wave will be like the usual waves during the winter season, which will officially end on March 20.
