Imam Ashour, the Al-Ahly player, expressed his great happiness with his team’s victory in the Egypt Cup championship at the expense of Zamalek, explaining that the title is expensive and important because it came at the expense of a big team like Zamalek.
Al-Ahly was crowned champion of the Egypt Cup after defeating Zamalek with a clean score in the match that brought them together this evening, Friday, at the “Awal Park” Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and was managed by Brazilian referee Anderson Daronco. Emam Ashour and Afsha scored Al-Ahly’s goals in the 85th and fifth minutes of stoppage time.
Imam Ashour said in statements to On Sport channel after the match, “Thank God for the victory… We worked hard in the match and won the title.”
Ashour added, “In Al-Ahly, we play until the last minute…that is why we succeeded in clinching the title in the last minutes.” He explained that he was facing difficult circumstances before the match, as he suffered from a high temperature 3 days ago, to the point that he almost missed the match, but he recovered thanks to May God bless him and more than one person standing by him, most notably his wife and mother-in-law.”
Ashour confirmed that Al-Ahly’s performance declined during some periods of the match, but the team succeeded in clinching the title in the end.
