Phil Foden scored two wonderful goals as Manchester City won 3-1 over rival Manchester United, continuing its quest to win the English Premier League title for the fourth time in a row.

Until the 81st minute, the score was 1-1, and United was intent on obstructing the progress of City, its eternal rival in the city, and implementing the promises of new co-owner Jim Ratcliffe to return the 20-time English champion to the position it deserves.

But Foden received a pass from Julián Alvarez and shot the ball from the left of the penalty area, giving City the lead, scoring his second personal goal.

Norwegian Erling Haaland completed the hat-trick for his team after a defensive error, as Rodri cut the ball from Sofiane Amrabat to pass it to Haaland, and he was alone with the goal and shot into the net.

Marcus Rashford put United ahead in the eighth minute after receiving a pass from Bruno Fernandes, and Rashford fired a shot from outside the penalty area that hit the crossbar and into the net.

Foden had equalized the score for City with a similar tremendous shot from outside the area in the 56th minute after a pass from Rodri.

After United prevailed at the beginning of the match, City woke up and Foden almost equalized in the 19th minute, but United goalkeeper Andre Onana brilliantly blocked his shot from inside the area.

In the 33rd minute, Rodri shot a powerful shot from inside the area, but the United goalkeeper successfully blocked it.

Haaland missed an opportunity to equalize while facing the goal and shot over the crossbar after Foden set up the ball for him with a header after a cross pass from Rodri in the 44th minute.

The referee refused to award a penalty kick in favor of United after Garnacho fell in the area following an intervention by City goalkeeper Ederson in the 78th minute.

Manchester City raised its score to 62 points in second place, ahead of Liverpool in the lead with 63 points, before a direct clash between the two teams in the next round.

Manchester United suffered its second consecutive and 11th loss in the league championship this season, leaving its score frozen at 44 points in sixth place.
